Q: Is there a fee to work in the Shop or at Ellis Park?
A: Yes. If you work in the shop there is a $3.00 Studio Fee per
session plus what ever you purchase to work on, ie; greenware,
bisque, paints, supplies and firings. This helps defray the cost of
paper towels, water, electricity etc. you use when you are there.
If you are a student at Ellis Park the fee is $20.00 per month and
this includes all of your firings, but not your supplies ie;
greenware, bisque, paints, supplies. This fee covers what I have to
pay to rent the room and the electricity to fire the kilns there and
some of my travel expenses.

Q: What does it cost to fire pieces at the shop?
A: The firing cost is half the Greenware cost. For example if the
greenware costs $5.00 each firing will cost $2.50, if the greenware
cost $25.00 each firing will cost $12.50.

Q: Can I leave my pieces at the shop while I am working on them?
A: Yes, but I have very limited space and it is first come first
serve. Also I am not responsible for pieces left in the shop, if
anyone else's should come in and look/touch/break them. I do my best
to remind people not to touch things that do not belong to them.
Also if a piece has been left in the shop over 30 days without being
worked on, it becomes shop property. I am usually very liberal with
this policy, but it is shop policy.

Q: Do you take special orders?
A: Yes, I require a deposit of 1/2 before I start on any special
orders, ie; custom painting, altering greenware, ordering special
colors I do not normally stock, etc. If you are ordering something I
normally keep on the shelf there is no need for a deposit.

Q: How long does it take to finish a project?
A: This is a very flexible timeline. What I can do in a few hours
(clean and paint for example) might take you a whole session to
clean and another session or more to paint.
Firing a piece needs 2 days, one day to fire and overnight to let
the kiln cool down before I can open it. I try to fire at least once
a week or more depending on how much is there to fire. I do not want
to fire a kiln for one piece, this is a waste of energy, but I try
not to make anyone wait more than a week and a half for a piece to
be fired.

Q: Are you open on weekends or Holidays?
A: No I am not open on weekends unless prior arrangements are made
and the Shop is CLOSED on all Federal Holidays. We are also Closed
the week of Christmas through New Years, and on even years we are
usually closed for at least two weeks since we go out of state.

Q: Do you do special parties/tours?
A: Yes, we can do birthday parties, Big Brother & Big Sister
parties, Scout/Cub parties, Home School parties etc. I just need
plenty of advance warning so I can have enough pieces poured and
fired. You need to come in the Shop to pick out the project so we
can determine the cost (usually it will include everything from
start to finish at 6 times the cost of the greenware you pick out).
some exceptions may apply.

Q: Do you fire pieces from other shops?
A: Yes, but will need the receipt so I know what to charge (1/2 the
cost of the greenware). If you don't have a receipt, I will estimate
the cost by picking a similar piece from my inventory.

Q: What color lines do you stock?
A: Colors for Earth (Concentrates, Strokes, Glazes and Specialty
Products) and some Duncan Acrylic colors (non fired) and Glazes only, I
no longer stock Duncan EZ Strokes, Concepts or Cover Coats since I
now carry Colors for Earth. Duncan has sold out to Mayco so when I
am out of Duncan colors that is it I am converting to Mayco Jungle
Gems, Elements & Foundation glazes.

Q: Do you sell wholesale and to the public?
A: Yes if you have a Wholesale tax number on file. I give 25% on
greenware, supplies, & Duncan colors. I do not discount firing or
cleaning of greenware, but you would get the discount on the
greenware before firing. Since I have to pay shipping on Colors for
Earth there is only a 5% discount on them. Yes we sell to the public
also.
